Last year we revealed exclusive pictures of a forthcoming, superheated Cayenne GT Coupe, and now we’ve got more pictures of Porsche’s performance SUV. But unlike last time, where we caught the car stationary, this time our spy photographers have snapped the Coupe in action. And because of the cold conditions, it’s even easier to pinpoint its unusual centre-mounted exhausts.

Porsche Cayenne Coupe GT: what we know

Performance and electrification go hand in hand at Porsche, as the Stuttgart brand launches itself wholeheartedly into the battery age with a series of new models with electrifying performance.

And while cars like the Taycan pure EV may take all the plaudits, it's ramping up the hybrids too - and this prototype boosted Cayenne Coupe Turbo S E-Hybrid is believed to be a testbed for a new kind of Cayenne GT model.

Notice the pair of round exhaust pipes nestling in the centre of the rear apron, GT-style. Where the regular Turbo S E-Hybrid sports a quartet of pipes at the back, this one looks for an even more sporting set-up.
How fast will the Porsche Cayenne Coupe GT be?

Pretty damn rapid, by the sounds of it. Our sources suggest this range-topping Cayenne will be powered by the maximum hybrid powerplant already under development for the Panamera sports limousine in a secret project dubbed 'Lion'. And that engine is reputed to be putting out a faintly ridiculous 800+ horsepower.

So, yes: the Cayenne GT will be preposterously fast, if those figures on the Zueffenhausen rumour mill are to be believed. By our estimation, this will be a sledgehammer powertrain that'll easily overcome the circa-2.5-tonne kerbweight of one of the heaviest SUVs in the range (those turbo motors and large battery packs don't come cheap - in price or weight terms).
